commercial aero engine and industrial gas turbine lines and has completed more than 18,000 shop visits for over 1,400 customers worldwide.
Within this Global network, MTU Dallas provides hospital shop and on-site maintenance services.
The Position:
The Manager, Quality, Safety & Engineering is accountable for the successful coordination and liaison of the day-to-day activities in support of areas such as Maintenance and Document Inspection, Engineering, and all Quality Programs.
Activities include collaborating closely with operations, internal and external maintenance Inspection and Engineers.
Role is responsible for the overall implementation, management, and oversight of the quality systems and all maintenance performed by MTU Maintenance Dallas.
Assists as required with supplier on-site audits based on internal or customer requirements, finding effective solutions to resolve current quality and in-service maintenance issues; and for communicating, recommending and/or developing improvements to processes.
Reports directly to the President of MTU Maintenance, Dallas, with consistent collaboration with Director of Quality Management of MTU Maintenance Berlin-Brandenburg GmbH.
This role ensures that all MTU Maintenance, Dallas work is carried out in accordance with applicable FAA, OSHA and other applicable requirements and has the authority to interrupt work in case of failure to comply with regulations.
Responsibilities include:
Maintain current knowledge of national and international aviation regulations and policies that affect repair station operations.
Act as the primary company interface with all applicable national and international aviation regulatory authorities.
Perform initial and recurrent repair station certification activities (Repair Station Certificates) from the FAA and foreign aviation authorities.
Ensure that technical engineering expertise is provided to maintenance personnel, customers, and regulatory agencies in support of compliance with contractual, company and regulatory requirements.
Liaise audits from air carrier customers.
Schedule and perform internal repair station audits in accordance with CFR145 and MTU Operating Procedures.
Responsible for assuring that all data and tooling resources are made available by the Accountable Manager to the repair station so that they may operate appropriately to their ratings.
Create and maintain all repair station Quality Program procedures including manuals required for national and international repair station certification (RSQCM, Foreign RSQCM Supplements).
Work closely with company operations to maintain up to date knowledge of the details of each project in work.
Provide notification to National and International Authorities when off-site work is being performed.
Create and maintain the repair station training program and maintain training records for repair station personnel.
Create and update required repair station personnel rosters, Schedule and coordinate initial and recurrent training for technicians and inspectors.
Review technicians and inspector authorizations for proper qualifications for each project they are assigned.
Perform audits, surveillance, and approval of outside agencies (maintenance vendors) that perform maintenance activities associated with repair station work.
Assure that external audits are conducted in a manner to effectively measure vendor's policies and procedures to verify they meet the requirements and standards and communicates results and documents of Internal/External audits back to the Accountable Manager upon completion.
Maintain the repair station corrective action (CAR) program to assure proper actions have been taken for corrections to quality deficiencies that are discovered internally or reported by customers.
Establish operational specifications, test procedures and documentation for new added capability of engine test in collaboration with MTU test cell engineering and local test cell manager.
Development of standard engineering program as potential template for all On-Site Services stations.
Perform surveillance and updates as required to the following repair station programs:
o Safety Program o Shelf-life program o Hazmat programs o Calibrated and non-calibrated tool programs o FOD Program o Scrap Parts Program o Receiving Inspection program Requirements:
BS/BA in Industrial Management, Technology, Quality Systems, Engineering, or related field, preferred.
8 years of experience in aviation quality; with 3 -5 years of progressive experience in a Quality Management role including direct reports, required.
Background as Aircraft Engine Technician Preferred.
Thorough Knowledge of 14CFR part 145 Repair Station Regulations 14CFR Part 135 or 121 Air Carrier Background is a plus/preferred.
FAA Airframe and Powerplant License or ability to obtain a Repairman Certificate issued by the FAA through MTU.
Demonstrated history of accurate, thorough, and efficient work.
Knowledge and experience promoting a Zero-Defect culture within a regulated environment.
Must act as an independent autonomous thinker and act accordingly.
Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for effective interface with all internal and external contacts.
Effective facilitation, coaching and training skills.
Must be highly skilled in use of Excel Spreadsheets, MS Word and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work well with others in a fast pace multi-national environment with all levels of the organization.
Strong interpersonal skills with proven record of achieving performance and operational improvements utilizing a participative style of management.
Strong time management skills and ability to work to deadlines and achieve goals.
Current US Passport required.
